About Costa Rica

In many ways, Costa Rica is the way life should be. It’s a little slower here than what you are used to; perhaps that’s why the Costa Rican people are so nice! With numerous eco climates, many active volcanoes, and pristine beaches, the country offers a diverse and storied culture that can be enjoyed by all.

Getting Here

Costa Rica has two international airports: San Jose (SJO) is in the south-central part of the country; Liberia (LIR) is in the northwest.  Liberia (LIR) airport is the closest to us and is an hour away by car.  We provide airport transfers for a set price.

If you choose to fly into San Jose and wish to come directly here, there are several options. Two regional airlines – Sansa and Nature Air fly regularly between San Jose Airport and the small Tamarindo Airport and both offer a nice 45-minute flight. If you choose to drive it will be about a 4-hour trip.

Many airlines are offering non-stop flights from principal cities directly into the San Jose and Liberia Airports. Our staff would be pleased to help you plan your trip.

What is the weather going to be like?

Los Altos de Eros is located in the province of Guanacaste, which has the driest climate in the country. This area basically has two seasons: the Golden Dry Season from November to May and the Green Season from June to October.

Green Season

By June, the thirsty dry earth welcomes the first rains that mark the beginning of the Green Season. The season runs from June to mid November and is actually the most beautiful time to visit. Temperatures are typically in the 80’s.The tropical forest that surrounds the hotel explodes with lush greenery and vibrant wildlife including howler monkeys, tropical birds, butterflies and iguanas. Mornings are usually clear and sunny, perfect for some beach time, surfing and adventure tours. In the afternoon, the clouds may build up and create possible rain showers, usually clearing for a spectacular sunset. If it does rain, there is created a refreshing, romantic ambiance for a relaxing siesta or spa treatment.

Golden Dry Season

In October the rain stops, and it will not rain again until the following May. The months from November through January are still lush green, (80’s) but in February the dry weather and breezy conditions create falling leaves as we change seasons. In March and April, temperatures will be in the 90’s, and the country side scenery includes coastal hills and plains that appear similar to an African savanna. In May, in advance of the rains, the dry heat induces some trees to flower, such as the “Cortez Amarillo”, which makes striking yellow or pink blooms that paint the landscape and provide a favorite snack for the howler monkeys.

We only have 6 rooms to offer and our reputation keeps us quite full, so we advise you book well in advance.
